‘Pudseys’ as we are known in the Trade, are specialist metal fabricators to the Public Lighting Industry. The business started in 1981 when Alan Pudsey agreed to sell his ailing engineering business to Peter Diamond so that he could retire and sail off on his home constructed yacht. At this time, there was just one product which was a bracket for rural lighting in villages where there were overhead electricity lines.
By visiting customers and building an understanding of their requirements, gradually more products were added to the range, Pudseys became known as the Lighting Engineers Workshop, providing solutions to many and varied problems. Over the years, our Engineers have developed a high degree of expertise and knowledge in the fields of Street Lighting and Street Furniture.

The growth of the business necessitated a move to larger premises and in 1991, Pudseys relocated from Warsash to Andover in Hampshire, providing a more centralised location with good communications. Now, in 2009, we have just completed a move to our third premises in Andover, which provides us with a highly sophisticated manufacturing and office facility from where we can confidently satisfy the requirements of our customers UK and Worldwide.
Currently, our work is split between maintenance products such as Sleeve Brackets for spalling concrete columns, Replacement Doors, and Keys, for obsolete lampposts, and new works where we supply products such as Feeder Pillars for new highway developments. We also supply Decorative Lighting Columns, Illuminated Traffic Bollards, and Hinged Lampposts for use in areas unreachable by service vehicles.
Our Product Range is split into three main areas:
Traffic: products such as Bollards, Sign Lights and Carousels
Engineering: products such as Aluminium and GRP Boxes, Feeder Pillars and Distribution Panels
Lighting: products such as Hinged Columns, Replacement Doors, Sleeve Brackets, Reducers & Adaptors
In addition we have undertaken many specialist projects working with Architects and Lighting Engineers on urban redevelopment, or regeneration schemes, utilising the skills of our highly experienced design and engineering team.
